Reservit ja juniorit (Spurs)

Recommended Posts

Tottenhamin akatemia on matkannut kohti Hollantia, Otten Cupiin.

Tottenhamin maalin teki 10. peliminuutilla John Bostock vapaapotkusta. Twenten maaleista vastasivat Ninos Gouriye kahdesti ja Ola John.

Toisena päivänä eli tänään lauantaina pelattiinkin kaksi ottelua. Aamulla elintärkeässä ottelussa lohkon kannalta joukkue kohtasi SC Heerenveenin. Ottelu päättyi 1-0 Tottenhamin eduksi Ryan Fredericksin maalilla. Juniorit eivät kuitenkaan selvinneet jostain kumman syystä välieriin, ja kohtaavat huomenna vielä illalla brasialaisille kärsityn 0-1 tappiosta huolimatta sijoitusottelussa Anderlechtin, jossa panoksena on sijoitukset 5-6. Spursin pelaajat taitavat muuten nauttia korkeita sijoituksia korttitilastossa. :thumbsup1: :thumbsdown1:

"We needed a draw and it looked on until that goal but you have to give credit to the Brazilian side.

"As I said, we've a young squad out here, one of the youngest in the tournament.

"You have to remember that we could have had the likes of Ryan Mason, Steven Caulker, Adam Smith and Jon Obika all here, but they are all out on loan and that's fantastic in their career development.

"Long-term, the experience of this tournament and the Eurofoot will be fantastic for these players."

22.8 Middlesbrough

Premier Academy Leaguessa U-18 joukkue hävisi avausottelussa Middlesbroughin joukkueelle 3-2. Tottenhamin maalit tekivät Anton Blackwood sekä Paul Jose Mpoku.

Mixed start for U18s

Alex Inglethorpe declared himself happy with some aspects of our Under-18s play - but unhappy with others - as they lost 3-2 at Middlesbrough in their Premier Academy League opener on Saturday.

After a bright start, the lads found themselves 2-0 down and then 3-1 down at half-time.

They piled on the pressure in the second half, reduced arrears to 3-2 and created a number of chances to bring home a point from Teeside but were left to rue those mistakes in the first half.

Anton Blackwood (pictured right) and Paul Jose Mpoku were on target.

Alex gave us this rundown. "To be honest, we started well but suddenly found ourselves 2-0 down.

"Middlesbrough opened the scoring after 12 minutes when they got down the left and crossed for a header at the far post. I'd like to think we'll defend situations like that better in the future.

"We missed a penalty between their goals when Kudos did well in the box, was brought down but unfortunately Harry Kane saw his penalty saved.

"We went 2-0 down after 18 minutes and we were all at sea defensively at that point.

"We hit back though with a fine finish from Anton Blackwood from just inside the box after 25 minutes.

"But Middlesbrough scored again just before the break and it was down to poor individual mistakes.

"Again, we were bright in the second half. We put them under pressure and pulled a goal back through Paul Jose Mpok, another good finish.

"We had a couple more chances that we weren't able to convert and it obviously stayed 3-2.

"To sum up, I was delighted with some aspects of our play but disappointed with the inidividual mistakes that have ended up costing us."

22.8 Manchester United

U-18 joukkue hävisi Manchester Unitedin vastaavalle joukkueelle 3-1. Tottenhamin joukkueen ainokaisen iski toisella puoliajalla Kudus Oyenuga. Tässä Tottenhamin kokoonpano:

Jansson

- Durojaiye - Blackwood - Cox - Francis-Angol (Ekim, '70) -

- Byrne - Parrett - Mpoku (Fredericks, '55) - McBride -

- Kane -

- Oyenuga -

U18s miss out

Our Under-18s improved in the second half but were beaten 3-1 by Manchester United on Saturday.

United stormed into an early 2-0 lead in the Premier Academy League encounter at Spurs Lodge with goals after three and 11 minutes and then added a third midway through the first half.

The lads recovered, Harry Kane struck the woodwork and Kudus Oyenuga (pictured right) reduced the deficit early in the second half when he followed in Dean Parrett's shot at goal.

That's how it stayed - we'll have the thoughts of coach Alex Inglethorpe later...

Tällä kertaa u18-joukkue kaatoi West Hamin joukkueen numeroin 5-2. Kudus Oyenuga teki kaksi maalia ja M'poku kolme.

- Butler -

- Butcher (Durojaiye, 45') - Byrne - Francis-Angol - Smith -

- Fredericks (Lancaster, 60') - Mpoku (O'Neill, 70') - Nicholson - McBride -

- Kane -

- Oyenuga -

Ryhmitys jäi minulle epäselväksi.

Paul Jose Mpoku and Kudus Oyenuga fired our Under-18s to a fine 5-2 win against West Ham on Saturday.

Mpoku led the way with a superbly-taken hat-trick while Oyenuga finished two chances clinically to complete the scoring in the Premier Academy League fixture at Spurs Lodge.

The lads were in complete control for 80 minutes but had a minor wobble when Robert Hall and Ahmed Abdulla scored two goals in as many minutes to make it 4-2.

Jamie Butler also made a fine save but that spell was soon over as first Harry Kane won a penalty - it was saved by Peter Loveday - before setting up Oyenuga's second and our fifth with a sublime pass that the striker took around the keeper before slotting home.

Mpoku, playing in central midfield, set the tone by rifling home the opening goal after eight minutes after the visitors failed to clear Ryan Fredericks' cross.

The second goal was even better six minutes later as Mpoku smashed a full volley from 20 yards into the top corner.

Kane forced a fine save from Loveday and then set up the third goal, drilling in a pass to Oyenuga who turned inside Sergio Sanchez before finding the bottom corner.

Kane was involved again in the fourth goal, winning possession on half-way before releasing Mpoku, who strode forward 20 yards before hitting as clean a strike as you could wish to see into the corner for his hat-trick.

Substitute Cameron Lancaster and Oyenuga forced fine saves from Loveday before Hall pulled a goal back for the visitors with just about their first effort of the second half, 79 minutes on the clock.

It was soon 4-2, however, when Sanchez nodded in from close range and it needed Butler at full stretch to tip over Hall's free-kick to prevent it going to 4-3 minutes later.

Anything less than a home win would have been a travesty, though, and play soon switched to the other end as Sanchez upended Kane for a penalty. Kane struck the spot kick well but Loveday read it and palmed away.

Undetered, Kane slotted the perfect pass through to Oyenuga in the 88th minute and the striker finished in style, dribbling past Loveday before rolling into an empty net.

Proud moment for Academy

John McDermott says the Academy can take great pride from having four players in the England Under-19 squad.

Steven Caulker, Ryan Mason, Dean Parrett and Adam Smith are with the Three Lions for the first qualifying round of UEFA European U19 Championship in Slovenia.

They take on hosts Slovenia, Slovakia and Finland aiming for a place in the top two of the group to qualify for the championship's Elite round.

The opener is against Finland today (Friday, October 9) with Slovenia on Sunday and Slovakia next Wednesday, October 14.

Academy Manager John said: "It's great to have the four players in the England squad and that's testament to the loan system.

"Steven and Ryan have done well alongside Jon Obika at Yeovil, Dean's recently gone to Aldershot and played his first 90 minutes (of league football) on Saturday and he's really proud about that.

"Adam has had five league starts for Wycombe this season and we'll be looking for him to get back out on loan, although I'm sure he would have taken five league starts as an 18-year-old at the start of the season.

"All four players have been to a number of tournaments with Spurs, they have been successful, they know what it takes to win tournaments and I think they are well-prepared for it.

"Hopefully they will all play and they will all be good assets for England."

Andros Townsend was on the squad's stand-by list and with Paul McBride with the Republic of Ireland Under-18 squad next week and Jon Obika just back from representing England at the Under-20 World Cup in Egypt, our Academy is certainly being recognised on the international stage.

John knows better than most the benefits of these international tournaments having been an FA National Coach where he worked with age groups 17-21.

"You get six, seven or eight weeks of experience all wrapped up into a few days," he explained.

"The lads are up against top-class opposition and there is also the pressure of having to qualify, so they are almost in a semi-final atmosphere straight away. It's a great experience for them."

Learning curve

Alex Inglethorpe feels our Under-18s will learn lessons from their 4-2 defeat at all-conquering Leicester City on Saturday.

Our young side - including six First Years in the starting XI - were 2-0 up at half-time against a physically strong, tall and powerful Foxes side thanks to headers from Kudus Oyenuga and Paul Jose Mpoku.

However, the home side hit back in style with four unanswered goals in the second half of the Premier Academy League encounter.

That made it eight wins out of eight in the PAL for a Foxes team that has already accounted for Liverpool and Arsenal this term.

"We came here three years ago and lost 3-2 having led 2-0 at half-time," said coach Alex. "The players in that group learned from that experience and many of those players are now doing well out on loan.

"The experience of coming up against that sort of team will be invaluable to these younger players because that's what they will face in the future.

"There were a lot of things to be complimentary about but a lot of things to work on as well.

"I was happy with our intention to play in the first half, we applied ourselves well and coped with what they had to throw at us.

"The facts are though that Leicester's front two are very, very strong and we just ran out of steam on the day. That was nothing to do with training or physical fitness, they were simply too much for us to cope with."

The lads take on Birmingham City at home in the PAL on Saturday.

Kane's so able!

Harry Kane fired home two free-kicks as our Under-18s beat Watford 3-2 in the Premier Academy League on Friday.

The skipper led from the front as his side stormed into a 3-0 lead in the first half of a match re-arranged from October 4.

However, in a classic ‘game of two halves', Watford hit back after the break and hauled themselves back to 3-2 as the lads held on for a sixth win in seven PAL matches.

The first half was all Spurs and the opening goal arrived in the 12th minute when Kane headed Dean Parrett's free-kick back into the danger area for Ryan Fredericks to guide home from close range.

Kane scored the first of his free-kick double after 22 minutes, an inch-perfect curler over the wall and into the top corner from 25 yards.

Fredericks saw a third ‘goal' chalked off for a borderline offside call before Kane took aim again from a free-kick, this time on the right side of the box, and curled into the side-netting.

Watford didn't heed the warning and Kane lined-up a third free-kick from just outside the box three minutes before the break. This time he went for power and his piledriver arrowed into the bottom corner for 3-0.

It was so nearly 4-0 a minute later when Jesse Waller-Lassen smashed the underside of the crossbar from Paul Jose Mpoku's cross and it took until added time for Watford to force a save from Jamie Butler, back in the side after a broken nose.

The second half was a different story.

Watford slowly worked their way back into the game and eventually hit back via a penalty after 65 minutes.

They then made it 3-2 after a scramble from a corner with 15 minutes remaining but that was the end of the scoring.

"We played some excellent stuff in the first half and actually looked quite comfortable at the start of the second half without creating the same chances," reflected coach Alex.

"But we then lost our identity and basically took a step back. Credit to Watford though, they seized the moment and the momentum.

"It would be easy forget what we did in the first half and come off feeling negative after the second half, but that first half display was full of positives."

Spurs U18s: Butler; Cox, Butcher (Smith, 46), Byrne, Carroll; Fredericks, Parrett (Bostock, 60), Nicholson, Mpoku, Waller-Lassen (Oyenuga, 70); Kane.

BRENTFORD LOAN FOR BOSTOCK

HISTON LOAN FOR COX

Sam Cox on tehnyt lainasopimuksen englantilaisen Histon FC:n kanssa. Peliajan perässä siirtyy mies varmasti, eikä kyseessä ole missään nimessä lupaavimpia pelaajiamme.

Nostetaanpa tätä junioripalstaakin välillä. 4 Spursin pelaajaa on nimetty Englannin U19 maajoukkueeseen otteluun Hollantia vastaan.

Four Spurs players have been named in the England Under 19's squad to play Holland in March.

John Bostok, Dean Parrett, Ryan Mason (currently on loan at Yeovil) and Stephen Caulker (currently on loan at Yeovil) have all been named in England U19's coach Noel Blake's 18-man squad for the game against The Netherlands at the Mandemakers Stadium in Waalwijk on Tuesday, 2nd March.

MyPa sai oppipojiksi kaksi Tottenhamin junioria. Nicholsonilla ja Kudus Oyenugalla on pitkä tie ammattilaisiksi. Nicholson vaihtoon jo ennen taukoa.

No just, pitikin minun mennä niistä kertomaan täällä, kun se lysti loppuu saman tien!

Tämähän vaan osoittaa Veikkausliigan olevan niin kovatasoinen sarja, ettei täällä mitkään Tottenhamin juniorit pärjää, heh menkää Valioliigaan :D
